Hey There, I’m Kat, Welcome To My Blog!
If this is your first time visiting my site I just want to say it’s nice to have you here. In a nutshell, Femmepower is a women’s health and lifestyle blog. But, in reality, it’s SO much more than that. Yes, I make it a point to share informative blog posts that focus on women’s health, lifestyle, wellness, clean beauty, anti-aging, nutrition, fitness, holistic living and oh so much more. But, I also make it a point to share my personal journey with painful periods, endometriosis, infertility, and mental health.
I struggled for many years in silence with painful periods, IBS, “endo belly”, recurrent pelvic pain, nerve pain, depression, anxiety, and infertility. I can’t tell you the countless doctor’s visits where I would try to explain what was going on and get help only to have my symptoms and my health struggles gaslighted and played off. I would even reach out to people in my life for help and was met with accusations that I was being too “emotional”, “dramatic” or “it wasn’t really that bad”. This led me to isolate my pain and my frustration and “fake” my way through it. It wasn’t until there were two large cysts discovered on my ovaries that medical professionals and people in my life began to take me seriously.
Dealing with these frustrations due to ignorance and lack of awareness is what led me to want to talk more about my personal experience along with all that I was learning about infertility, reproductive chronic illness, endometriosis and women’s health in general. This led to the creation of Femmepower, a space where I am allowed to express my voice. Even if that voice was angry, sad, confused, or hopeful. It was ok for me to express my emotions and share my journey the way I wanted to without anyone telling me what I could and couldn’t do.
Aside from my dedication to being an advocate for women’s health and empowerment. I’m a Texas transplant that was born and raised in a small town in middle Georgia. BUT, South Texas, specifically San Antonio stole my heart in my early 20’s and its where I live, work and play.
Before pursuing a career as a writer and creator I was working as a licensed esthetician. This position allowed me the opportunity to help women improve the health and appearance of their skin from the outside in. I was able to teach them how to preserve the youth and health of their skin through anti-aging facials, skin treatments, and high-performance skincare. Additionally, this ignited my passion for health and wellness, which led me to explore fitness and nutrition as it related to anti-aging and preventative health. Now, I fuse my knowledge and expertise from the health, wellness and spa industry to educate women with chronic illness on how to lead healthy, fulfilling lives through integrated care, holistic living, and self-awareness.
Regardless of what led you to my blog, I hope you leave here with increased knowledge and awareness about women’s health and wellness. I can’t wait for you to become apart of this community and take part in changing the attitudes and perceptions surrounding women’s health.
